The Californian at The Dusit Thani hotel is an international buffet restaurant that has a different cuisine every day of the week. They call it ‘themed nights’ where Sundays are Tandoori nights, Mondays is Mexican cuisine, Tuesdays is New Orleans BBQ, Wednesdays is South East Asian and so on. We went on a Monday, which means we had Mexican. That made me happy as it had been a while since I had some good Mee-hi-can cuisine.
And it was delish. Some of the dishes from the live cooking station, like the Veg Burritos and Tacos were very flavorful. And, by that I mean, you could taste the sauces, herbs and spices which are meant to tickle your palette. My fav from the entire meal was the Veg Burrito and the Mexican rice.
Mexican rice is one of my favoritest foods anyway, so it is hard for me not to like it.
The meal was buffet-style so *burp* the food just would not stop presenting itself on the table…err…by…us!
The dessert consisted of, amongst many items, the traditional Churros, which made my Dad very happy as he had been missing them since his return from the States, where he had one too many.
I must tell you about the view too. As you may, or may not know, Dusit Thani is located at the brink of Downtown Dubai, so part of the hotel boasts views of the Burj Khalifa.
Lucky for us, some portion of The Californian overlooks the tallest tower in the world. So, we had a meal with a view!
I recommend visiting The Californian on a Monday, as that is the day we went there, for the Mexican fare.
