The world’s slimmest smartphone hit shelves in the GCC last week as Fly, launched its handset at major retail outlets across the region in partnership with Dubai-based distributor, Eurostar Group.
We had the chance to speak with Mr. Abdul Jabbar, VP, Marketing, Fly Eurostar and Mr. Nitin Sood, MD, Fly Eurostar who walked us through the phone.
Some info about the phone taken from the PRL:
Measuring at 5.1mm thin, the Fly Blade is officially the slimmest smartphone in the world available for purchase, weighing only 95.5 grams, combining a sleek design with advanced technology at a price of AED 999.
The Fly Blade offers a range of sophisticated features, including face recognition phone lock, smart gestures, and a 4.8” Super AMOLED display.
A 1.8mm narrow bezel allows for a large screen that enhances the user experience when viewing photos or videos, browsing the internet, or reading text. Scratch resistant Gorilla Glass protects both the display and the rear panels of the Fly Blade, with a metal encasing that ensures the device does not bend.
Powered by Android 4.4 KitKat OS, the Fly Blade packs an octa-core 1.7Ghz processor, promising reliable, high-speed performance and effortless functionality. A 16GB memory allows users to store every memory and explore the vast multimedia potential of the Fly Blade, complemented with a USB On-the-Go feature, which enables easy connection to peripheral devices, such as external storage USB Devices.
Users can capture their precious moments in vibrant photos and videos with the rear 8MP autofocus camera. The ‘Selective Focus’ feature highlights certain elements of a frame and blurs the rest, enabling users to take professional photographs from the convenience of their super-slim smartphone. ‘Focus and Light Separation’ guarantees vivid contrast, while ‘Face Beauty Mode’ allows users to enhance their portraits by amplifying the eyes, evening the skin tone, and reducing the appearance of blemishes. The wide-angle front 5MP embedded camera is the perfect tool for taking a group selfie or for a video conference.
This is such an amazing feature for the ladies!
Mr. Abdul Jabbar, VP, Marketing, Fly Eurostar, tells you more about Fly Blade:
The phone also boasts a long-lasting Lithium-Ion 2050 mille-ampere hour battery, guaranteeing users 140 hours of uninterrupted operation in standby mode, and 8 hours talk time. Fully loaded with state-of-the-art sensor technology, the Fly Blade features acceleration, proximity, and light sensors, making the device a multi-purpose tool for different situations.
Advanced DTS sound technology ensures users don’t miss a beat by offering them four different audio settings to choose from. Meanwhile, ‘Wet Hand Mode’ allows users to attend to their phone notifications when cooking or washing by simply using hand gestures, and ‘Pocket Mode’ prevents accidental calls and apps from opening while the phone is tucked away. The Fly Blade’s ‘Flip Alarm’ makes it that much easier to get an extra dose of beauty sleep by simply flipping the phone to snooze the alarm. – Oh dear! I would just BUY a phone for this feature because we are such snoozers!
Mr. Nitin Sood, MD, Fly Eurostar, walks us through the phone:
The handsets will be exclusively distributed by Dubai-based Eurostar Group and available at all major retail outlets across the region. The device will be available in black and white variants.
Review of the phone: Hey guys! So, after using the phone for a while, this is what we thought:
(we have to stay really true to our followers and readers and so we think it is imperative that we give you an honest feedback)
1. It is really a very below average phone.
2. It keeps hanging ever so often – sometimes even in between a phone call!
3. A fully charged phone gives you only a couple hours talk time.
4. The quality of the pics are good, but that’s just about it!
