Chamas – the Buffet-style only restaurant offers all kinds of meat – you name it, and they seem to have it. While my friend enjoyed the meat delicacies, I was gorging on the passion fruit, shrimp rice (we totally recommend it) and starters. We were seated in a private dining area as I requested to be away from the loud, live music. We normally love live music, just not in the middle of the week and when we had to have constant conversations with the Passadores to understand how their food concept works.

What / Who are ‘Passadores?’

'Passadores' - traditional meat waiters

‘Passadores’ – traditional meat waiters

So, ‘Passadores’ or traditional meat waiters, serve you meat that is right out of the oven on a skewer, to your plate. The idea at Chamas is something like this,  ‘we offer you some of the world’s largest meat selection.’ And, they did. Women generally do not have a huge appetite, let alone for so much meat. So, on top of that assumption, my friend consumes three french fries and she is full. You can only imagine how much meat she ate. But, as she promised, she did try all types of meat served to her as I had to write this blog post for you, to tell you about our experience.

The verdict – this is what my dear friend had to say:

“For drinks, I chose the sweet Caipirinha made with fresh strawberries (as opposed to the regular lemon).”

Karen says, “The endless cuts of freshly barbecued meat were delicious, succulent & piping hot, though I did find them a tad bit salty at times.”

She tried 8 of the 18 cuts of meat including beef, veal, turkey and chicken. “What I liked was the the pineapple skewer with cinnamon coating that worked as a palate cleanser in between every meat dish” says she.

The Passadores bring you the meat and you pick how much you want.

You must try:

  • The Shrimp Rice
  • Brazilian Mocktail
  • Passion fruits
  • Almost everything at the Salad Bar
  • From the meats – Karen recommends the Veal and Turkey

And, we finished off with this yummy passion fruit (freshly imported from Brazil) and some ice cream:
