Guest Blogger Helene Leroux talks tech

Guest Blogger for DIAF from London talks to us about Tech and which gadgets have caught her attention:

So far, 2013 has been an exciting time for tech. Earlier in the year the latest iPhone and mobile phones were released, while eighth generation games consoles and other innovative new devices lay just over the horizon. Here is a selection of the best gadgets already out in 2013 and those that will be available before the year is out.

Canon PowerShot G16

Canon is a trusted name in the world of photography and in 2013 added the PowerShot G16 to its line up. The 12.1 megapixel camera has full HD and a wide lens, as well as being very capable in low light. The high speed shutter allows for continuous shooting while WiFi connectivity means that users are able to upload images to the internet direct from their camera.

Playstation 4

The PS4 is one of the most hotly anticipated releases of 2013. The newest console from Sony is part of a new breed of eighth generation machines and will feature better graphics and faster processing than ever. The console is also up to speed with social networking and will have a share button on the new dual shock control. It is set to be launched in the Middle East in December this year, which is a month or so behind the US and Europe but hopefully in time for the first bug fixes to be released.

MiFi 2200 Network Extender

With more and more gadgets now connecting to the internet, faster broadband is a growing necessity. The MiFi 2200 is a pocket sized amplifier that allows users to greatly improve the signal of their network. Users are also able to access the internet directly through the amplifier, with several devices able to connect at the same time, making the network extender very useful in airports and hotels.

Google Glass

The Google Glass is another highly awaited tech arrival for 2013. The groundbreaking invention offers users all the functions of the internet right in front of their eyes. Among other features, the Google Glass will have interactive maps, a translator and a camera. The device looks a little bit naff but is impressive nonetheless.

Alienware M14x

The latest laptop from the de facto leaders of computer gaming. The M14x features an i7 processor for excellent multitasking performance, and a 2 gigabyte graphics card that should offer outstanding graphics. Running out of room is not a problem either, with a 750 gigabyte hard drive and 8 gigabytes of memory. The machine is an excellent bit of hardware for graphic designers and serious gamers.
