That the food at OKKU Dubai is tasty is nothing new. But what we want to claim here, without offending other popular Japanese restaurants in the same vicinity, that OKKU makes the best black cod. At least, it is the best we have tasted so far, in Dubai.
Being a huge fan of the said fish, we end up ordering it whenever possible, so we kind of have an idea of what tastes like a well-prepared black cod.
The other dishes on the menu took a back seat for us as we were awaiting our most sought after dish.
When you are at OKKU, exuberance and a desire to make your time there worth your while and wallet, seems like what the staff at the restaurant are constantly reminded of. Sure, that is what the restaurant business is all about. But it seems like that is easily forgotten here sometimes.
Decor – The ambiance and table layout at OKKU is intimate and the high ceiling makes it feel roomy at the same time. Pretty paradoxical, in a nice way.
This Lobster dish was served innovatively, on ice. It was cooked just right. Although, I prefer lobster made hot, my friend gulped the whole thing down in less than five minutes.
What can we say about the Sushi platter? It was fresh and flavory.
What to order?
Definitely the Black Cod, the Tofu tucolor Salad, Dynamite BCM, the Lobster Crispy Rice and if you don’t feel like having Japanese dessert, then go for the chocolate fondant. The portion is really small. So, if you still have an appetite for dessert, we say order one per person.
OKKU Dubai is located at the H Hotel on Sheikh Zayed Road, opposite the WTC, Dubai.
