If you are looking for good contemporary Mexican cuisine in Dubai, Fuego it is. Located at the Souk Al Bahar, part of the The Dubai Mall, this eatery has a great mix of a relaxed ambiance, the best fresh salsa (in Dubai) and good service.
Executive Chef Jose Manuel ensured that we ate well, and we did.
There were many best parts about our meal – from the fresh salsa as mentioned before, to the mango Chilli sorbet that Chef Manuel prepared for us at the end our meal. The Mango Chilli sorbet was just something. You take a bite, the taste of mango engulfs your palette and then *firecrackers* there is a serious but pleasant burst of chillies in your mouth. Pretty magical actually, how two extremely different tastes manage to mingle so well.
These Chillies mind you, aren’t the ones that you buy at your local grocery store. They are original Mexican chili peppers that are imported especially from the country to Fuego.
Then there was the Fuego Brocheta, succulent (notice how this is usually a prefix for prawns cooked well) prawns that I allowed my companion only one to devour as it was mouthwatering. Not to worry, she has a small appetite. Lucky me!
The Hibiscus inspired drink made me feel ashamed that I ordered a soda. I eventually ditched it for this exotic drink that Fuego offers.
The Guacamole On The Spot was another highlight of our meal. A video of how it is made for you. Watch:
Tres Leches which literally means three milks cake was just sublime. A must try for people who like milk-based dessert.
