Mixed prints are ruling the runways this season, and the Milly collection for Banana Republic has it bang on.
Fun is the first thing that came to mind as I was introduced to the said collection last week. Swift to take me to the pertinent area of the store, the PR machinery for the brand, pulled out all the stops to promote Milly’s designs. We like.
What’s not to like really when you are invited to be one of the first ones to preview the collection and pick one for yourself? Gives a whole new meaning to waking up ‘early.’
Invited to a morning meet, exclusively for media folks at the Banana Republic store at the Dubai Mall, I liked what I saw. From animal printed shorts and pouches to Aztec-tribal inspired designs on jewelry, Fashion 2.0 will vouch for it’s on trend endeavor.
Whoever coined the term ‘Fruit salad’ – used as a metaphor to describe a cocktail of bold prints and colors – has helped me describe to you the collection’s hues. Michelle Smith, designer and founder of Milly, has used everything from corals, to greens, to various shades of blue.
If I could think of one celebrity (in her own right) that would effortlessly pull off the Milly collection, it would have to be Michelle Obama. Milly for Mobama it is! Or should we say, Michelle for Michelle?
