I really want to say that the Peppermint & Avocado Shampoo by Philip B (pictured below) worked for my scalp when I poured my scalp woes out to the hair expert and got told to use it. Unfortunately, it did not. Perhaps, I judged it too quickly, or I was using too much. You see, I am so used to getting lather from my shampoos, that in the bargain, I may have used a bit too much shampoo on the scalp, leading to over-dryness of my tresses. All the above until…I was told that I the Peppermint shampoo is actually supposed to be used ‘only as a cleanser’ for the scalp, followed by the Russian Amber Imperial Shampoo to wash off.
This was a case of wasn’t told, didn’t get :(. But it can work for you if you use as directed. You will notice moisturized, shinier hair and a healthier scalp – the hair expert’s promise.
All this tickled my curious buds to find out find out what Peppermint really does for the scalp.
Peppermint aids in scalp care by balancing the pH levels of the scalp, increasing scalp circulation, stimulating hair follicles, thereby, promoting hair growth and relieving inflammation with its cooling, relaxing effect. The menthol in peppermint soothes and calms an irritated, infected or inflamed scalp.
The tingling sensation you feel on your scalp upon application is the Peppermint oil doing its job, that of circulating and stimulating blood flow to your scalp and hair roots. Basically, it works as an astringent, balancing the scalp’s oil production. Since peppermint balances the pH, it moisturizes a dry, itchy scalp, at the same time, rids the scalp of excess oil which gives a neutralizing effect on the scalp and hair. This lets your hair follicles breathe once again.
So, those are the benefits of Peppermint for your hair.
Now for the Light Weight Deep Conditioning Creme Rinse (pictured below). This one I am in love with. After all that dryness, I was just dying to add some luster and life back into my hair. I could not wait to reach out for the Philip B Conditioning Creme Rinse and soak my hair in it forever! Alas! All good things must come to an end. Upon rinsing off the conditioning creme, I got some mojo back into my hair. A sigh of relief and a few washes later, I am left contemplating whether to try the 3 step regime (scroll above) — the way it is supposed to be done in the first place.
